The lichen specimens, culture collection and DNA samples at the Laboratory of Advanced Bio-Production Sciences, Akita Prefectural University, consists of a Japanese herbarium (c. 6,000 specimens), mycobiont culture collection (c. 450 strains), and a collection of DNA (c. 470 samples). These collections weremaintained by Professor Yamamoto, who had developed the tissue culture technique of lichens known as Yamamoto method.
